The Park Bench - a poem which inspires you to live each day.

Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren't enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
With its petals all worn - not enough rain, or too little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a smile and then shifted away.
But instead of retreating he sat next to my side
And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise,
"It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful too.
That's why I picked it; here, it's for you."

The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors: orange, yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need."
But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the first time
That weed-toting boy could not see he was blind.

I heard my voice quiver; tears shone in the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second that's mine.
And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose
And smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in hand,
About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

Spam Mail >>> Kindly accept my greetings - Kojo Kwesi from Ghana

From: Kojo Kwesi <payre67@btopenworld.com>
Date: Jul 17, 2010 4:26 AM
Subject: Kindly accept my greetings
To:

Compliments!

Kindly accept my greetings. My names are Kojo Kwesi and am from Ghana. I am 52 years of age and I work with a giant gold-producing company, Newmont Ghana Gold Limited. I understand that my contacting you will come to you as a surprise since we have not known each other before. I only have the privilege to contact you after I got your e-mail address during my search for a relaible partner in the internet. I believe you can handle this project. My purpose of writing you this mail is to introduce a project involving the sum of US$ 7.546, 740.00 (Seven Million Five Hundred and Forty Six Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty United States Dollar) to you, and to seek your partnership in securing the above-mentioned amount.

In February this year, I have lobbied for an Indian gold company to buy gold deposits from a group of community miners at a very low price and less incurred tax. I had a confidential agreement with agents of the Indian company that I shall receive 10% value of the cost of gold deposits bought as my reward for fixing the business. After completing the business, my percentage benefit was deposited with a financial security company in London. The reason the money was deposited in the security company was because I didn't want my company to suspect my act since it is against the company's career practice and ethics policy. Besides, the Indian company is also a business partner with Newmont Ghana Gold Limited Company.

I have contacted you to solicit your assistance to receive this money in your private account for possible investment in your country. My decision to transfer the fund out of the security company is because the expiry time of the deposit agreement I had with the company is near. Therefore, I want you to receive this fund as my partner and after, you shall be entitled to 30% of the fund.  I believe you will be of good character and honest. If you are interested, kindly get back to me for more details.

I anticipate your acknowledgement and reply soon.

Regards,

Kojo Kwesi

K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag” Song

Ooooooh Wooooooh, Ooooooh Wooooooh

Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher

See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud

In the streets our, heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,

Celebration, its around us, every nations, all around us

Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun

Lets rejoice in the beautiful game,

And together at the end of the day.

We all say

When I get older I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag

When I get older I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag

So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag

Oooohhh, Oooooooooh wooooohh, Oooooooooh wooooohh

Give you freedom, give you fire, give you reason, take you higher

See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud

Shakira's Waka Waka

Shakira's Waka Waka lyrics released as the FIFA World Cup 2010 Official Anthem.

You're a good soldier
Choosing your battles
Pick yourself up
And dust yourself off
And back in the saddle

You're on the frontline
Everyone's watching
You know it's serious
We're getting closer
This isnt over

The pressure is on
You feel it
But you've got it all
Believe it

When you fall get up
Oh oh...
And if you fall get up
Oh oh...

Tsamina mina
Zangalewa
Cuz this is Africa

Tsamina mina eh eh
Waka Waka eh eh

Tsamina mina zangalewa
Anawa aa
This time for Africa

Listen to your god
This is our motto
Your time to shine
Dont wait in line
Y vamos por Todo

People are raising
Their Expectations
Go on and feed them
This is your moment
No hesitations

Today's your day
I feel it
You paved the way
Believe it

If you get down
Get up Oh oh...
When you get down
Get up eh eh...

Tsamina mina zangalewa
Anawa aa
This time for Africa

Tsamina mina eh eh
Waka Waka eh eh

Tsamina mina zangalewa
Anawa aa

Tsamina mina eh eh
Waka Waka eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa

During wind and rain by Thomas Hardy

They sing their dearest songs --
He, she, all of them -- yea,
Treble and tenor and bass,
And one to play;
With the candles mooning each face....
Ah, no; the years O!
How the sick leaves reel down in throngs!

They clear the creeping moss --
Elders and juniors -- aye,
Making the pathways neat
And the garden gay;
And they build a shady seat....
Ah, no; the years, the years;
See, the white storm-birds wing across!

They are blithely breakfasting all --
Men and maidens -- yea,
Under the summer tree,
With a glimpse of the bay,
While pet fowl come to the knee....
Ah, no; the years O!
And the rotten rose is ript from the wall.

They change to a high new house,
He, she, all of them -- aye,
Clocks and carpets and chairs
On the lawn all day,
And brightest things that are theirs....
Ah, no; the years, the years;
Down their carved names the rain-drop ploughs

- Thomas Hardy

What's that?

"Who Am I?"

"A gift of God,
a blessing to this earth
That is what I am.

A person of substance,
a person who matters,
a person who can make others feel the presence
That is what I am.

A person who learns from each day,
a person who has courage for facing each day,
a person who has hope for each tomorrow
That is what I am.

A person having a yearning desire,
to get more and more knowledge
from the ocean of wisdom
That is what I am.

Someone who can give to others
If not the moon, if not the stars,
If not just gifts, if not just flowers
But a hope for the future
And a sweet smile on the face
Which spreads happiness as long as it stays
That is what I am.

And this is the reason
Why I am the happiest
When I Am What I Am.

I Accept Who I Am
I know what I can
I buzz 'Work On'
To show How I Can!"

What I Believe???

Think Not Today, About Tomorrow.
Compare Your Today With Yesterday.
And Make Your Today Better Than Yesterday.
Give Scope For Better Tomorrows To Follow.

:::Prayer To The Lord:::

Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
However dark it be.
Lead me by Thine own hand;
Choose Thou the path for me.

Smooth let it be or rough,
It will be still the best;
Winding or straight, it leads
Right onward to Thy rest.

I dare not choose my lot;
I would not if I might.
Choose Thou for me, my God;
So shall I walk aright.

The kingdom that I seek
Is Thine; so let the way
That leads to it be Thine
Else I must surely stray.

Take Thou my cup and it
With joy or sorrow fill,
As best to Thee may seem;
Choose Thou my good and ill.

Choose Thou for me my friends,
My sickness or my health;
Choose Thou my cares for me,
My poverty or wealth.

Not mine, not mine, the choice,
In things or great or small;
Be Thou my Guide, my Strength,
My Wisdom, and my All...

What I Follow ???

I prefer to Follow The Eighteen "Ities"

For everyone's success in life it is essential that he should develop certain cardinal virtues. Virtue is strength, power and the key to peace. A virtuous man is ever happy, peaceful and prosperous. The Song of Eighteen "Ities" enumerates the virtues that one should cultivate.

Here is the Song of Eighteen "Ities":

Serenity, regularity, absence of vanity,
Sincerity, simplicity, veracity,
Equanimity, fixity, non-irritability,
Adaptability, humility, tenacity,
Integrity, nobility, magnanimity,
Charity, generosity, purity.
Practice daily these eighteen 'ities',
You will soon attain immortality.
Brahman is the only real entity,
Mr. So and so is a false non-entity.
You will abide in eternity and infinity;
You will behold unity in diversity;
You cannot attain this in the university.
You can attain this in the Forest University.

Action steps to reach your goals ..........

To reach your goals you need to …

* Know your outcome with crystal clear imagery.
* Know your reasons for wanting that outcome. This gives your mission a purpose.
* Take action to move towards your outcome.
* Use goals as markers to monitor and measure your progress. You can check that you're going in the right direction in a timely way using these.
* Defeat self limiting beliefs to build self belief. This will get you there faster.
* Act in spite of any fears you may have to build self confidence. This will keep you off the brakes.
* Change your approach until you get to your final destination. This is essentially what persistence is all about… changing your approach until you hit your goal.
* Stick with it until you hit your final destination. Don't give up half way there.

There we have it… strange how life gives you clues of success in activities that are taken for granted by most.

I hope you think of this analogy in your pursuit of your goals and you use the lesson summary as ACTION STEPS.

With your equipment they all began ..............

Figure it out for yourself, my lad,
You've all that the greatest of men have had,
Two arms, two hands, two legs, two eyes
And a brain to use if you would be wise.
With this equipment they all began,
So start for the top and say, "I can."

Look them over, the wise and great
They take their food from a common plate,
And similar knives and forks they use,
With similar laces they tie their shoes.
The world considers them brave and smart,
But you've all they had when they made their start.

You can triumph and come to skill,
You can be great if you only will.
You're well equipped for what fight you choose,
You have legs and arms and a brain to use,
And the man who has risen great deeds to do
Began his life with no more than you.

You are the handicap you must face,
You are the one who must choose your place,
You must say where you want to go,
How much you will study the truth to know.
God has equipped you for life, but He
Lets you decide what you want to be.

Courage must come from the soul within,
The man must furnish the will to win.
So figure it out for yourself, my lad.
You were born with all that the great have had,
With your equipment they all began,
Get hold of yourself and say: "I can."
